Dramatic Theatre/Music Spotlighting Social Issues
Presented by Horizon Stage, Parkland RCMP
By Meghan Gardiner and Directed by Renee Iaci
Love Bomb is a rock concert within a play – and a mystery on top of that. A whirlwind of emotion rips through YouTube star Justine’s performance one evening. A mother in search of her missing teenaged daughter causes Justine’s music to take on a life of its own. Starring Linda Quibell and Amanda Testini, Love Bomb takes an intimate and emotionally brave look at youth sex trafficking, and other ways our youth are at risk.
In Canada, countless lives have been, and continue to be affected by this epic problem. Victims are drawn into this industry as young as 11 years old, and the average age of a human trafficking victim is 14-15 years old. We all think it doesn’t happen in our city, in our country, but statistics show we are mistaken. Over 90% of girls and women trafficked in Canada, are FROM Canada.
This critically acclaimed dramatic production by Vancouver’s Shameless Hussy Productions features nine original songs written by Steve Charles (Miss Shakespeare, Chelsea Hotel) with book and lyrics by Meghan Gardiner. The play has earned two 2015 Ovation Awards for Musical Theatre, and has been supported by RCMP detachments throughout BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan as a crime prevention and awareness tool.
Presented in partnership with Alberta Parenting for the Future, Spruce Grove FCSS, and Stony Plain FCSS
